Magnificent sounds, they really lift my spirits, Patrick. I definitely need to check out that Fränder album! Thanks!
Yes, they have that effect, don't they! And I recommend FRÄNDER II. Thanks for listening!
spellbinding - magic and wonder in equal measures!! ...thanks so much for sharing this music Patrick, papa🙏🌞🤸♂️
So glad you enjoyed it, Papa, and thanks for listening!
Fascinating, so little known this music.
Yes, most of this came to me from a brief flowering of interest in Scandinavian folk music in the U.S. world music sphere, but it didn’t gain much of a wider audience and my station has received comparatively little since. The Frander tracks do come from an album received last fall though. Glad you enjoyed this and thanks for listening. I really liked your new one and wondered who plays the sax with Ginsberg on that one poem.
Thanks for the feedback. That track you like on mine it is the voice of Jack Kerouac reading his Haiku poems. There are two saxophonists actually who accompany him: Al Cohn and Zoot Sims. Anything else on that upload is by Ginsberg or Dylan.
Kerouac, not Ginsberg! And I had had Ginsberg's voice for comparison. Thanks for posting that about Cohn and Sims.
Hard to imagine anyone but you assembling this Patrick.
Liked the instrumental palate here - all those skirling fiddles, wild penny whistles and the occasional sonorous and justly tempered clavichord. (Should have tagged this with #clavichord, pretty much guaranteed the top of the chart.)
Also impressed with how you put it all together - great flow and dynamics.
Some kind of pagan vibes here? Picturing you assembling a giant wicker DJ and turntables in your back garden, to the neighbours' consternation.
Have a good weekend!
John
Love that image, John! My evening porch listens do often go out into the back yard but nothing so intrusive. With the exception of the clavichord and the traditional singer before it, these were all things the radio station received, most in the heyday of the label Northside, which I spotlighted in a winter mix a few years ago. I'm glad you liked the clavichord. I have never met the composer but have known their wife, new music violinist/composer Maya Bennardo, since her childhood here in Toledo. That piece is the last section of a longer piece with wide-ranging international influences on the other sections.
Have a most enjoyable weekend yourself!
Beautiful session ✅ thank you dear Patrick 🎼🌞🌴🍷
So glad you liked it, Zvonimir and thanks for listening!
Delightful selection, almost all by artists I hadn't heard before - cheers for the introductions, Patrick!
Cheers to you, Simon, and thanks for listening! The FRÄNDER tracks are from a fairly recent album, FRÄNDER II, but other things go back a few years or quite a few years.
