felt fully like had been on a journey and I really liked your description including the "daily life with its rhythms, discords, and trials" part.. very apt framing. I had two false starts on listening (daily discords and life getting in the way 😊) but it meant I got to listen to the first two tracks 3 times - both wonderful but Little Pocket Sized Demons really blew me away, like wow.

Inspired set, Patrick. Invisible Rules is a good strapline for this gang of experimental forward thinkers who weren't afraid of a (lateral) melody or a bit of rhythmic mojo.
Great arc on this session, liked the way that it went further out and then came back in again, peaking with the flamethrower rabble rousing of that Sunny Murray track.
The Don Byron tune is an old favourite, played that a lot back in the mid-90s (round about that time that Cassandra Wilson turned up at the Jazz Cafe in London with Brandon Ross in her band). Lods of great music on that album.
Little Pocket Size Demons was intense! I love the whole idea of heavy tuba basslines (cf Theon Cross / Walrus / Hypnotic Brass Ensemble) but that was next level. Had to go Google and ...oh, TWO tubas. And Bill Laswell on the mixing desk. No wonder. And the guitars were heading off to that intersection between free jazz and post-punk. Bet that would sound great on an actual sound system.
And that closeout track is a cooker, for sure. Roy Brooks going off like a firecracker there.🧨
