I'm not on any sort of crusade. So many people I meet seem motivated by anger about whatever stuff they've been told arts orientated post graduates should be angry about, like bands that the NME push or Heat Magazine or whatever, and presume I'm motivated by the same anger. I don't get it. I don't really like The Apprentice, Gordon Ramsey or Charlie Brooker, but they don't actually stop Taxi, Steve Martin or Gil Evans records existing, do they? When I DJ people come up to me and say stuff like "YEAH MATE! REALLY GOOD SHIT YOU PLAYED TONIGHT, PROPER MUSIC, YEAH? NOT LIKE THAT POP OR DANCE SHIT YOU USUALLY HEAR!" Like I'm gonna react like, "Yeah! Right on, brother! When Proper Music Fans like us rule the world we'll play nothing but David Axelrod LPs all day, and The Ting-Tings will be first against the wall!" Who cares.
