Ambient and experimental sounds to mellow, reframe, and unsettle. The cat’s whisker receiver or ‘crystal radio’ was instrumental in the popularisation of terrestrial AM radio in the early 20th century. It could also be pointed skyward to give an audio glimpse of the greater cosmos; the roar of solar wind; the electric hum of stray radio signals bouncing off the earth’s ionosphere; the electromagnetic symphony of cosmic background noise. We believe 21st century radio can still be used to provide a window into the interstellar and the otherworldly.
