Amsterdam, Netherlands
Osdorp Tapes (Barış Akardere and Jurriaan Pots) presents the musical sounds that have become part of the Dutch soundscape since the arrival of Moroccan and Turkish guest workers in the Netherlands in the 1960’s and 1970’s. We collect these sounds on cassette tapes, and investigate the stories behind their popularity. The tapes we play are part of our personal collections, consisting of cassettes bought on family trips to Turkey, or found on flea markets, online, and in the many small shops in Osdorp.
