As a producer and dj since 1988, Oliver Barkovic (“Ollie”) has been at the forefront of techno and house in Canada and beyond.
Between 1991 and 2001, he issued twelve recordings on his label Steel City Records, recorded for Stickman Records, Probe, Definitive, !K7, Strictly Rhythm and appeared on countless compilations and collections.
Ollie has performed and toured extensively throughout Canada, the U.S. and Europe, and was one of only two Canadian acts to appear at the 2001 Detroit Electronic Music Festival.
As a dj, Ollie creates an atmosphere using styles ranging from techno to abstract electronic funk. As a live performer, Ollie emphasizes electronic improvisation, raw and free of harmonic and melodic structure with layers of sound and rhythm.
More recently, Ollie launched Beauty Industries - a new label devoted to capturing the spontaneous feeling and emotions of its artists music.
