Cape Town, South Africa
A multi-talented performing artist of South African and International Entertainment Industry, Odidi Mfenyana is a trailblazer of a New South African generation.
Odidi Mfenyana received a career-defining break when controversial and internationally acclaimed theatre director Brett Bailey head-hunted him while singing karaoke.
Brett Bailey shortly christened him ODIDIVA for the showstopper “Fire In Uganda” for his play BIG DADA - The Rise and Fall of Idi Amin in 2001. The script described ODIDIva as based on the avant garde androgyny of Grace Jones, the vocal prowess of Shirley Bassey and the bravado of South African pop provocateur Brenda Fassie.
Together they created a concept theatre club show called HOUSE OF THE HOLY AFRO. From 2004 to 2013 House of the Holy Afro toured over 15 international cities in over 10 countries to critical acclaim and popular renown.
