Another buffet of beautifully strange and troubling tunes, each carefully wrapped in haunted cellophane, with a comforting garnish of pop gorgeousness. After a bracing opener from late lamented Bostonian musique-concrète hipsters The Books, the table is strewn with dishes including a fabulous Bowie cover, a couple of pieces from giallo soundtracks, a remix of birdsong, a Thing from Brooklyn, a Belly b-side, and a couple of gorgeous themes from Zdeněk Liška’s score for Malá Mořská Víla (The Little Mermaid). All in all, plenty of yummy mementi mori that won’t tax your digestion. Peppered throughout are some petites amuse-oreilles from sundry filmic sources including the BFI’s Flipside series. Put this behind your necktie, and very good health to you.
