This show was 14th in the global acid house chart and 15th in the global post-punk chart.
What is it? Well, it’s not a full-on, middle of the night chugging dance set, clearly, nor is it a cool background mix for those middle-aged dinner parties and the like - too many tempo / genre changes for that.
Ultimately, it’s an attempt to put twenty-eight years of vinyl addiction in to some kind of vaguely cohesive flow of music; a vinyl mix-tape if you like, and as such it is almost certainly doomed to failure.
I have had a lot of fun re-discovering some of these records. If you give it a listen, I hope you have some fun too.
The only one thing that really connects them all, is that I love them.
The hope is to do some more of these. To celebrate some of the other musical genres that I have embraced over the years (because I’ve realised it’s impossible to create just three without neglecting much loved corners of my record collection), but let’s see if anyone digs any of this fifth one for now.
Please ignore any crackles or pops in the sound. It’s just ‘Surface Noise’.
