I am DJ Nesta The Originator, born in The Netherlands, from 1997 till 2014 living in the Czech Republic and after living in Brussels, back in Holland, The Hague. For more than 30 years I am collecting and playing reggae and dub. The name Nesta I am using already for more than 25 years – originally only as pseudonym for writing short political columns, since 1998 as DJ. Since the internet came up, I realised that there are more “Nestas” in the DJ world – So I added the The Originator to my name. Why “The Originator”? I started playing reggae more than 20 years ago in Brno, Czech republic. As one of the first, with bi-weekly shows in the cellar of an obscure pub annex laundrette called Mýdlo. That was the start of a blooming reggae scene. Many young people who attended my shows, started playing reggae themselves as DJs, MCs and Sound Systems. They brought reggae in Brno to the next level - and beyond.
