I practice as an artist and media theorist, trained as an art historian. I was a DJ in Los Angeles for almost 15 years before becoming an artist and educator. Much of my research crosses over to various fields of research including music, cultural studies, media studies, new media, the digital humanities, studio art practice, and art history among others. I am the author of Remix Theory: The Aesthetics of Sampling (Springer 2012): http://www.amazon.com/Remix-Theory-The-Aesthetics-Sampling/dp/3709112621
I am particularly interested in understanding how we share and recycle knowledge and ideas in all material and immaterial forms, hence my specific research on remixing.
On Mixcloud I share extended mixes and remixes of material that I find of interest for my ongoing research in the history of electronic music.
