Simon Ssemwogerere aka Mon MC is a professional rap emcee from Kampala. Rapping exclusively in his native tongue, Luganda, and infusing traditional African musicology into his style, Mon MC believes that rap music is the best way that he can educate the global community about issues facing people in Uganda. Mon MC has been rapping for more than 10 years. He has performed at more than 500 live shows throughout East Africa including a benefit concert for children suffering from HIV/AIDS at Mulago Hospital in Uganda. Mon MC is the first Ugandan rap artist to have a music video featured on Black Entertainment Television (BET). With songs like “It’s Never Too Late To Fight AIDS,” which was inspired by Mon MC’s mother who lost her battle with HIV/AIDS in 1997, Mon MC’s music is truly educational, uplifting and inspirational.
