After Radio Caroline North closed down on 3rd March 1968 there was a void left in the radio landscape. What to listen to? Radio Luxembourg at night but during the day? There was Radio One with some pop hits but also cover versions of my favourite artists. There was my local BBC Radio Merseyside station on FM only with limited music. Then i tuned the radio dial nothing...at first then on 188m a scratchy sound....American jingles...'The Station thats All Heart'..Dj's with mid Atlantic accents..bizarrely American sponsored religious shows at Midday. Tuning further along the dial a stronger listenable signal on 232m. I had arrived at a lifelong love affair with an alternative source of radio. Manx radio has provided a fascinating source of enjoyable listening over the years and is now availble to all on the internet.
