Mohamed Najem. Composer, clarinetist and Nay player.
Born in Jerusalem in 1984. He began his musical studies at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music. He holds the DEM degree from the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional d'angers. His exposure to numerous musical spheres in France, in combination with his musical heritage, provides for his unique musical language; a conglomerate of numerous musical cultures, his vast experience in the performance of traditional Arabic music and his training as a classical musician. He is featured on the album Floor No.4 as a composer-performer, in which he employs different combinations of strings, percussion and keyboard instruments as the backdrop for solo clarinet. He currently resides in Paris and performs regularly with his ensemble “Mohamed Najem and Friends” and as part of “Duo Encounter” with the international accordionist Manfred Leuchter.
