I started making mixtapes in the 1970's with a cassette machine. In the '80's I got my hands on a 4-channel reel-to-reel for the first time. Inspired by DJ Freddy Snakeskin on KROQ in Los Angeles, I began making mixtapes with "dropins" - little bits of audio to set off or enhance songs and transitions.

Nowadays I use Audacity and Cinelerra to make mixes.
