Born in Adelaide Australia, Michalis Philippou. From Adelaide’s early 90s hip hop scene and a decade in NYC West Village, Mike Polaroid is still a huge hip-hop fan, and though he is not a hip-hop DJ per say, the early influence of the turntable, drum machines and sampling is still evident in his performance and production around the dance of today. Not being labelled one style or another, Mike is one of the new age DJs who is not defined by a specific genre. His dance music teases the concept of tension and release and his unique sounds reflect a sense of discovery, surprise, exhilaration and natural resolve. Mike’s music holds emotions normally associated with movies.
