Forming in late 2008 the floating bridges have become one of the hardest working known bands to come out of the Sunshine coast. Hailing from among the beautiful hinterland forests of Pomona, this six piece outfit, boast a high energy live show like no other. With a multitude of diversity the band takes influences from blues, rock, funk, reggae throw in some Latin percussion and the Yidaki (Didgeridoo) and you’ve got the basic idea of what this band is all about.
After only six months of rehearsals the band entered in the Loud 09 band competition which saw entrants from Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Sunshine coast all competing for a chance to play at Loud 09 music festival held at the Gold Coast Convention centre. The floating bridges were lucky to gain a spot in the final, although unsuccessful in gaining a place, the band had the opportunity to support the likes of acts such as The Butterfly Effect, Mammal and The Funk Oars.
