Motown Vol II

Going back to the beginning, the first music that spoke to me and had a profound effect on my very soul and being. I never analysed it, I just felt it, boy did I feel it. I was crazy about early Motown, how could it be that this music exists? Who the hell are these people who pluck these sounds from the heavens? I’d read the credits, Hunter, Dozier, Holland, Gaye, Cosby, Robinson, Wilson, Bristol, Whitfield, Wonder an endless list of names, a wondrous cast of characters beavering away turning out slice after slice of emotional, heartfelt and beautifully crafted songs. I’d imagine these people and be in awe of their talent. I wanted to be them. It was only much much later that I found out that the Funk Brothers were the musicians who translated the dots on the page into the music that was doing things to my emotions and setting me on course for a life long love affair with music. 40 years later and I’m still feeling it, nothing evokes the past as keenly as music.
