Having had been involved with the electronic music scene in Winnipeg since 1995, Francis L, AKA Messmer, started mixing Drum & Bass in 1997. His first gigs began at Concept in the second room of the Wellingtons Basement where he was recruited to join Feroza Saïd and Chris Spelay (R Cola) to be a resident DJ at the Braemar Bakery under the collective of Dublab which included the likes of Not Half, Fanny, Venetian Snares and DJ Abel (Cain) in it’s roster. This weekly event evolved to a new location at Cloud Nine called Air Massive that was the first in Winnipeg to feature Drum & Bass as it’s focal point. By 2000 he was the Promotor for a weekly Drum & Bass night at the Collective Cabaret.
Messmer has performed with MC Demolition Man has the shared the stage with Dieselboy, MC Messinian, Gigantor, Freaky Flow, Keaton, Psi Dream, )EIB(, KJ Sawka, DJ Brace, Aphrodite, Venetian Snares, The Fix, DJ Crash & Slim Pickins to name only a few.
