Based in Amsterdam, the portuguese producer and live performer Mechanique (Jaime Paiva) started his career back in 1998, inspired by the industrial influences of Nitzer Ebb and Front 242. From there, he rapidly evolved into the soundscapes of Techno, having his debut EP "Hookers on Dope" on the legendary label Kaos Records in 2003.

He has, since then, been steadily exploiting the deeper, intense, atmospheric side of electronic music. He also signs with his alias Sphitzio and Tmesis, both directed towards deeper, darker and experimental soundscapes.

Mechanique also performs as Live and DJ, and runs his label Benthic Recordings.
