Owner of the label "Center of the Leaf" Mav west (Philip matthew wendt) has had a love affair with electronic music since 1999, and started spinning in 2002. However, music in general is in his blood. His mother always had a record on the platter growing up and his uncle, dj shorty, owned a record shop in Houston and spun at the infamous continental club for years a local legend who tragically passed away of a stroke in 2013. He sold vinyl to many of Houston's big rap names such as The Ghetto Boys and Del the Funky Homosapian. Through his uncle's shop philip had access to rare and obscure vinyl. He has produced since 2015, sporatically, but new productions are now dropping quickly. "Grimey Realiti" and "Count to Four" were released early February on Juno download, Spotify, Deezer, and many others. His style spans genres but is best described as heavy, driving techno/progressive spiced lightly with funk.
