DJ Matoi used to run the monthly Basscultural sound crèche at Vaaghuyzen in Amsterdam with his brother in blood and music DJ Kreits. He then moved to Hong Kong for a PhD in experimental psychology but continued spinning (now solo) a version of the brothers' Boogiewonderblend of music as a weekly resident at Soiree.
When Matoi moved to Philadelphia, USA for a post-doc in translational neuroscience and neurorehabilitation, his DJ career came to a screeching halt, as he found no room for it in his busy science schedule.
Now, many years later, Matoi is a tenured professor at a SLAC in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He still dreams about the wheels of steel with some regularity.
Who knows what the future will bring...
