In 1971, DJ Marz Faram was born in Tehran, the capitol city of Iran. As an Assyrian-Iranian, Marz's rich heritage heavily influenced his childhood, including his musical tastes and abilities. At the core of all Assyrian music is a beautiful polarity between dark drumbeats and light melodic notes, something that Marz strives to achieve in all of his mixes today. At the urging of his beloved grandfather, Marz also began classical piano training when he was just 4 years old. This taught him to develop an ear for the way in which music is structured. While vacationing in New York in 1997, Marz had his first opportunity to see Sasha and John Digweed together at Twilo. Hearing their music live astounded him, which almost goes without saying. However, he was truly impressed by the complete control they commanded over the masses, hundreds fusing into one, all being lead on a musical journey.
