DJ Mar Y Soul defines her music selection as "for dancers by dancers". With a solid background in the music generally termed as "salsa," she prides herself in selecting tunes that are not only danceable but those tracks that invoke the "need to dance" within the dancer.

She takes our music and dancers seriously and is committed to the continuous learning of the sub-genres and dances that fall within the realm of "salsa". This includes what has evolved from our traditional music in our mother countries in the Caribbean and South America as influenced by the Diaspora, as well as the culture that was migrated to the United States and transformed by the union between Jazz and Afro-Cuban music. DJ Mar Y Soul also keeps an ear out for the music being created in places such as Europe, Asia, and even in Africa due to the "reverse" influence our music has uniquely achieved.
