Mandarina Brausewetter was born in Sofia and lives in Vienna since 1990 where she distributed stencil graffiti in the streets as one of the first local artists. Trained classically in painting and industrial design the Bulgarian artists was working mainly as an illustrator for several magazines, album covers, posters and flyers, as well as in different artistic media including video, performance, painting, pottery and stage design. In this context she used stencils as well as the typically related style time and again. During a journey in Spain and Portugal in 2001 Mandarina was fascinated by the there found Street Art culture in such a manner that she started using stencils for expressing her own concerns in public space once back in Vienna.
