We honor Phil Cohran, an adept of science, astronomy & astrology, historian, sphereologist, teacher, community activist, and afro-futurist jazz pioneer. He was a prominent member of the Sun Ra Arkestra in its Chicago incarnation, and a original co-founder of the Artistic Heritage Ensemble, the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, Zulu Records imprint, and the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble with his eight sons. Despite these well known connections, he himself long remained somewhat unknown outside of Chicago. He had his own trajectory following a different star….
