Lia Tarachansky is a Tel-Aviv based filmmaker and the Israel/Palestine correspondent for The Real News Network (TRNN). The Real News makes short (under 10 minutes) documentary-style news stories that explore the context behind the news. In the summer of 2012 Tarachansky produced and co-directed a BBC-Arabic documentary about Israel's Social Justice movement (known as J14) and Moshe Silman, the man who set in motion a wave of self-immolations in protest of the harsh economic reality many experience in Israel.

She is currently completing work on her first feature documentary, On The Side Of The Road, a Naretive Productions film. The film is an exploration of the power of denial. It questions what Israelis learn, know, and sometimes choose not to know about the 1948 war (the birth of the state of Israel) and the origin of the conflict. It profiles Israeli veterans of the war and her own journey from growing up in settlement in the West Bank to questioning her nation's biggest taboo.
