House Genesis

If you have a chance to do gospel brunch at Howard Theater in DC, do it. I was fortunate enough to be there this past Sunday and see the Harlem Gospel Choir in action. Their voices are amazing and according to wikipedia there are ~41 members so there is a good chance someone within their choir will make their way to you soon enough. Listening to their music reminded me of the original sounds of house music. House originate out of funk and soul music in 1980's Chicago. Soul and funk music were birthed out of gospel music. So if you're looking at a family tree Gospel is the grandaddy of house music. These days the term "House Music" encompass a lot of music... a lot of which isn't "House", and is really somewhere further down the line of musical influences with synths, eurpoeans and 1990s house. So as an homage to the Harlem Gospel Choir and the grandaddy of House I put together this funky and soulful mix.
