Hello I am LAZARUS CARPENTER, a folk singer, songwriter and storyteller living in the valleys of South Wales. I was born in Yorkshire in 1952 and schooled in Middlesbrough, Sheffield and Cambridge. My son and daughter are now adults and out in the world doing their own thing, God Bless them! I spent most of my early life working with mental health issues and I have been performing as a folk singer in my spare time since 1980. I am very interested in writing songs and stories about historical themes and in particular the ancient heritage of Wales (e.g. The Ballad of Penygraig and Owain Glyndwr) and those with a political bent (e.g. Standing by the River and who are the jailors?).
