I gained an interested in playing records for people at a young age, DJing my first time for a party my parents hosted with their friends in 1980 (age 10), using one belt drive turntable and a tape deck. Over the next 15 or so years after that (approx 1981-1997), I focused on MCing and Production, but always dabbled in DJing, dong live sets sporadically thru out that time.

Then, around 1997, with the explosion of Scratch DJing, I had a bit of a epiphany... I had always been a fan of technical DJing, and was a fan of the leading scratch and battle DJs of the time, but I was also a bit frustrated to see a generation of DJs coming up trying to jump right to learning technical scratching and ignoring the foundation and other skills.

So, that's when I decided to put the record collection I'd been amassing since age 4 to more use, and started DJing more often and releasing mixtapes under the name Nikoless Skratch.
