Music has always been a major passion in my life. I remember at 8 years old I was struck by the voice of Levi Stubbs when I heard Standing In The Shadows Of Love. He was my gateway into the Motown sound of the 60s, then there was the Beatles in particular from this side of the pond which had a big influence in my interest of popular music along with groups like America and Simon & Garfunkel. Dionne Warwick and the music of Bacharach & David had an impact on me also. As the 60s met the 70s I was knocked out by the music of Isaac Hayes and in particular the award winning soundtrack to the movie Shaft. What Motown was to the 60s, Philadelphia Int records became what was synonymous to the 70s and the intro to that label, what an intro, to the O'Jays massive hit both here and in the US, the magnificent Backstabbers, still gives me goosebumps today. AS the decade marched on jazz-funk erupted onto the specialist market scene and modern soul opened up a whole new world. My DNA in many ways❤
