Not much any of us can do about the odd habit of counting birthdays, but we give those numbers far too much power in our lives. You can count on me to fight every expectation that I find limiting.
I am Ivy League and Jesuit educated (and former Jesuit), a writer/editor, a totally out gay activist, a non-churchy but very focused mediation practitioner—and I hope a good partner, son, brother, and friend.
I am very liberal as the term is commonly understood—a consequence of my decision to live openly and freely as a gay man. I am not alone among men of my generation. Now, I actually believe that before I die I will have the right to marry the man I love.
I am a believer.
