"Music is my life"..... Mz Jay, was born August 15, 1987 as Jessica Edwards. From an early age she had a influence with music threw her mother. As time progressed she started to have a niche for writing poetry at a young age. Artist that influenced her were, Missy Elliott, Lil Kim, 2 Pac, Foxy brown, Biggie, Queen Latifah, Salt & Pepper, Cassidy, Kanye West, Eminem, Jay Z, Jadakiss, Ludacris, Lupe Fiasco and many more. Prior to music she was heavily involved in basketball. Between writing music and playing basketball, her life was pretty much filled with excitement. In 2001, she decided to turn her poetry into music... She attended Hyde Park Career Academy, and was very talented on and off the basketball court. Her poetry and writing ability became stronger and deeper in time. She was the star point guard, a low key MC in the making and loved to write. Enrolling into A.P.
