Just Mat started buying electronic music in 1994. He was really into hip hop and trip hop (Mo Wax, Ninja Tunes) till he heard Ken Ishi’album “Extra”. From that moment he started exploring techno in all his facets: buying records, clubbing (Fuse was his favourite club mid nineties). But in the late nineties Just Mat also discovered house. In fact, that’s why he loved Fuse so much: not only techno was played but mixed with house (tip: check the first fuse compilations of Trish and Pierre). But in the late nineties parties got segregated: it was house or techno.
In 1999, he decided together with his friends to fill up this gap and started his own concept Nightflight: first in a small Atmozphere, later Ville de Fous, in Zottegem and in 2000 Nightflight moved to the infamous Decadance club in Ghent. Nightflight was a monthly event between 2000-2005/2006 in Decadance where a mixture of house and techno was played, better described as Tech-funk.
