I was introduced to dance music in 1991 when I was in high school and I couldnt get enough. Begging my friends for copies of their Dj mixtapes, patiently awaiting Saturday night so I could tune into the Steve Masters Modern Mix on Live 105, and eventually, in 1994 going to my first rave, Space Teddy.
I started DJ'ing with my brother who had a late night radio show at 90.7 KALX Berkeley around 1991. This planted the seeds for me to get involved with KVHS in Concord. A friend who I was going out to raves with, started buying the songs we heard at the raves, on vinyl. The songs were only available on record or a dj mixtape and since I had access to the turntables at the radio station, he would leave the records with me. Eventually I bought my own turntables and started to mix.
