For Crossley the world has always sounded: emitting raw sound and, its more organised cousin, music. His motivation to engage in music has been driven by the experiential, with the strains of Bach and Tangerine Dream scaffolding the lived soundscape of his earliest memories.

The guitar became his foremost expressive voice, with 18 years of classical guitar tuition ending in a Bachelor’s degree, followed by a Master’s degree in jazz guitar. Most recently Crossley is exploring improvisation and electronics through the cyber-guitar project for his Ph.D.

His most current work seeks to bring together the disciplines of classical music , improvisation (in collaborative free improvisation) and the electronic modes of expression through the development of a performance system embedded in a traditional guitar.
