John Pistotti grew up in San Diego, CA and started spinning vinyl in 1999 while he was a sophomore in high school, although his love for music began at an even earlier age. His mother forced him to take piano lessons when he was a kid (Thanks Mom!), which built a strong foundation for music theory, and eventually led him to study many other instruments over the years. He has played Violin, Saxophone, Guitar, MIDI synths, a variety of percussion instruments including Djembe, Pandeiro, Tabla, Doumbek, and recently picked up Shakuhachi.

His eclectic style grows from his love for world music, Motown and R&B classics, classical music, conscious hip-hop, reggae, drum n' bass, dubstep and house. Some of his favorite artists include Thievery Corporation, Sade, Daft Punk, Incubus, Marvin Gaye, Red Hot Chili Peppers, DJ Shadow, and Damian Marley. John loves to be active, and is openly addicted to music. Listening, making, mixing and sharing music is an important part of his life.
