Brighton, United Kingdom
Born in London in the late 1970s to Colombian parents, Johnny Cass had music around him before he had any say in it. A big multicultural household meant rhythms and stories from half the world.
Miami, Cali, Colombia's Coffee Region and New York City all left a mark. He settled in Brighton in the late 1990s and fell in with the free party movement, running with Crackpot, Innerfield, Brighton Alliance of Sound Systems and Ape-x. Systems went up on the Sussex Downs, Black Rock, Chanctonbury Ring and Shoreham Power Station. If there was space and power, that was enough.
The parties turned into the job. Twenty plus years in live events since, hands on across sound, lighting, rigging and video, from the Pyramids of Giza to F1 circuits. He knows what a room can do before he plays it.
Ten years on as a founder and resident at Uncle Monty's, he helped carry it from the Marwood Café to Field Trip. Live fully, connect deeply, enjoy now.
