John J Kane cover image

Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom

John has been into house music since the early 90's going to clubs like Rockshots listening to the likes of Tony Humphries, Danny Rampling and David Morales as well as their excellent resident Tommy Trent. He started djing in 95 and after a couple of years messing about in his bedroom, started to send some mix tapes out. Subsequently one of these mix tapes landed on Muzik Magazines desk and in 99 John won Muzik Magazine's prestigious 'Bedroom Bedlam' Competition. Fomer winners include Yousef, James Zabiela, Murray Richardson, Will Saul, Marcus James (Renaissance Resident) to name a few. Kieran Wyatt from Muzik was quoted in saying about his mix 'As soon as the acapellas of Danny Tenaglia's Elements and Frankie Knuckles' tears heads turned in the Muzik office. The mixing is a smooth and seamless affair. 95 North's the request always gets a laugh while Johnny Corporate's in the pocket had Frank Tope, Muzik's trainspotter-in-residence, on the blower to his local record emporium.
