John was born in Hastings in 1966 and has been drawing since the age of five. He is largely self taught but studied graphic design and fine art at Hastings College of Art & Technology. He cites his primary influences as Salvador Dali & Jack Davis and admits to being obsessed with the illustrations to be found within Victorian periodicals and newspapers of the woodcut and steel plate variety. John classifies his artwork as predominantly 'Dark Surreal' and views himself as an underground artist. His artwork has been separately described as being gothic, punk, wierd, fantasy, graphic novel or just plain 'wired'. John has been active within the underground art/music scene for some 20 years and has provided graphic artwork and illustrations for various publications worldwide including Lowlife Magazine which he co-edited, designed and produced from 1993 - 1996. John has provided artwork for various underground bands, most recently, the Angels of Liberty.
