JM is from the far north side of Chicago and started djing in 1994. His sound is heavily influenced by his Chicago upbringing mixing funk, soul, breaks, with hip hop and house music. In 2001, JM appeared on 2 episodes of Rap City after winning the Battle of the DJs at FAMU. In the early 2000s JM began producing beats appearing on Taste of Chicago Mixtape from DJ Ambideckstriks and later produced Rich Malone's debut EP, A Week in the Life. Around 2008, Jaem along with a number of other Chicago artists formed the Break Beat Bullies, a collective of producers and MCs who heavily relied on original breaks and a return to the park jam vibe. More recently Jaem has focused on his family and career, but after moving to Oakland in 2019 and a large push from his friends, Jaem has been back mixing and cutting on his prized black Technics 1200s (the same ones he purchased in 1995).
