John “Jay Mello” Melvin is a Producer and Engineer from the DMV area. From a young age he realized he had a talent for music and technology. Eager to learn and find a way into the industry, at 16 years old he co-produced a television show that was aired on live broadcast before finding his way into The Source Magazine. While there, he became a spokesperson for The Source Youth Foundation and used the power of hip hop music to deliver positive messages to the community. He currently attends The Omega Recording School of Arts and Applied Sciences in Rockville, Maryland, where he become the GRAMMYU Ambassador and led an Internship program at The Howard Theatre. In 2016, he was appointed as one of the participants in the National Association of Broadcaster’s Technology Apprenticeship Program in which only 10 people are chosen across the country. People he has worked with include: Benji Myaz, Janelle Monae, Marcia Griffiths, Rakim, Jason Armstrong, and Big Daddy Kane.
