James Straffon

James Straffon creates iconic imagery - as homage to the cinematographic and widescreen vista of bygone glory. His work seeks to relocate the 'vintage', within a modern framework; making pictures from the past and celebrating the epic. His creations owe much to the obsessive eye of the collector. With it, an appreciation of the erstwhile and endangered media which litter our heritage - the printed paper form, letterpress typography, film-shot photography, hand-painted objects and the forgotten allure of scrapbook assemblage.

In incorporating the 'everyday' into new forms, he seeks to elevate the tactile materials so often overlooked as redundant and outmoded; and create nostalgia for a new age.

Straffon's work incorporates original sourced mixed-media, pigment, collage, pen, resin, and printed materials.

He exhibits on a regular basis. With past collections shown with Paul Smith, SNAP Galleries Piccadilly, The London Design Festival and other London galleries. He has created commiss
