James Lima, born in Sao Paulo, is a historian and journalist graduated from Catholic University (PUC) of São Paulo. He began his career in the music industry in the 90s at Continental East West (Warner Music), then moved to the label and distributor Eldorado, independent distributor Trama and founded the distributor Brazilmúsica! At Atração Recordings. While there, he managed more than 290 independent labels, expanding independent production of these two decades, always focusing on the diversity of the Brazilian music.

In 2003, he created the Music News newsletter. The first daily bulletin of the Brazilian music market.
