James Gia is a Naarm (Melb) DJ and producer drawn to records with warmth, movement and personality.

After more than a decade spent collecting, playing and making music, his sound has settled somewhere between jazz, soul, disco, funk and underground house. That path has led to releases on Berlin-based vinyl imprint Limited White Label, alongside a growing catalogue of original tracks and unreleased edits.

His sets favour groove over obvious moments, moving through deep house, jazz-led rhythms, soulful cuts and left-of-centre records that reveal themselves over time. In the studio, he is drawn to Fender Rhodes, live bass, hand percussion, loose drums, lush vocals and expressive horns.

Whether playing or producing, James approaches music with a collector’s ear, looking for character, restraint and records that still feel relevant years later.
