The Irish Party House

Rochester New York, United States

IPH hit the airwaves in 1974, hosted on community and public radio by the late Ted McGraw (and then by Ted and son John) until the venerable musician and archivist retired in 2017.

For decades, the program was a staple of the Irish community in Rochester: at midday each Sunday, entire families would listen intently not just for the good music and fascinating commentary, but for a comprehensive cultural calendar including sessions, dances, Gaelic games coverage, and song dedications drawn from the audience's own lives.

This much-missed mainstay of Rochester Irish culture returns in 2026, hosted by Rochester trad musician John Ryan in a new station (rochesterfreeradio.com) and a live video feed here on Mixcloud, noon each Sunday!
