Ioannis M. Konstantakos studied classical philology at the universities of Athens and Cambridge and is now Associate Professor of Ancient Greek Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His scholarly interests include ancient comedy, ancient narrative, fiction, folklore, and the relations between Greek and Near-Eastern literatures and cultures. He has published four books and numerous articles on these topics. He has also given many lectures, conference papers and seminars in Greek and European higher institutions. He has received scholarships from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation and the «Alexander S. Onassis» Public Benefit Foundation. In 2009 he was awarded the prize of the Academy of Athens for the best classical monograph published within the previous five years. In 2012 he was a finalist for the Greek state prize for critical essay.
