in the 80’s, Leroy Johnson started out in the music industry collaborating with his two brothers (Kongo and Bassline Skully) to create a sound system called E.M.G Studio.
Their unique sound comprising of Soul and Rare Grooves spun by Leroy “Chipie Irie Don” combined with Reggae played by his brother, became very popular among the West London area and as a result, the trio organised private parties for a mature clientele in and around Notting Hill Gate and brixton.

Leroy became the first DJ to break the ice by working and presenting shows between (RIVAL) stations, Irie Fm 99.2 and Skyline 94.3 Fm. He then ventured over the river to south London, where Baseline Fm, Power Jam Fm, Vibes Fm and Lightning Fm all provided Leroy with years of invaluable experience.

However, Leroy felt that his apprenticeship with community radio was complete and he moved to legal radio, where after 15 years was broadcasting two shows on Friday and Saturday nights on Colourful Radio
