Near the beginning of 2014 I was asked to play a set at a small rave (ROR) the following April in Tucson. I acquired Traktor and some basic gear, and then had 3 months to learn to play and practice a very basic set. I survived this first gig, and discovered I enjoyed it more than I expected.
I am not yet ready to promote myself to try to get a 2nd live gig. Mostly, I have found that practicing DJ sets gives me a different and beneficial perspective on my productions. Another barrier is that while I do not dislike dance music, I do not have a lot of passion for it either. I tend to prefer music with odd timings that would tend to fluster a dancer. I am beginning to see that while I need to continue developing the skills of an EDM dj for my foundation, I will ultimately need to trudge along a road less traveled...
