IMAGINARY CONCERTS SERIES
New York, United States
The Imaginary Concerts Series is a sound project conceived by Peter Coffin and Cecilia Dossan based on a series of possible and impossible imagined concerts that never took place. The episodes are inspired by an art project called Imaginary Concerts, begun in 2008 by artist Peter Coffin and includes contributions from more than 150 musicians, artists, writers, and curators. The project has been published by Anthology Editions and Printed Matter as a collection of fictitious concert line-ups that include "rainbow fountain prints" created by Peter Coffin and typesetting by Adam Turnbull. The prints were made in the original style of the Colby Poster Printing Co., the LA-based print shop that famously churned out their iconic “show print” posters.
Every Imaginary Concert episode will be a simulated version of the dream concert imaginings of the project's participants. The far-reaching mashups – sometimes whimsical and humorous – reveal the impact that the concert experience has on us.
